Makan Culture - Fun Fusion Food, Cool Culinary Culture

UPDATE: Makan Culture has a new menu with loads of yummy options with bigger and better portions 😍 (Check out their scrumptious Nasi Volcano - crispy chicken chop topped with fresh lettuce on an island of egg fried rice surrounded by a sea of savoury gravy. Make sure you are very hungry to eat this as the portion is BIG 😆).
Furthermore, this outlet no longer practices the "Self-Service" concept so you can order your meals like at any other restaurant and dining cutlery will be provided by the awesome staff. 😊👍

Greetings everyone!
It's been quite awhile since my last post.
I've been busy lately since I am currently in my practicum.
(perks of being a Final Year Education student... hahaha)

This is me whenever I returned home from school

For today, I would like to introduce you to Makan CultureMakan Culture is a type of eatery that you can relax while enjoying your meal after a tiring day of shopping. Located on the ground floor of Wangsa Maju's AEON Big, you can head straight to this restaurant after you park your car since it is on the same floor with the parking lot alongside with other eateries; Sushi King, AP Ayam Penyet, etc. Makan Culture is actually a subsidiary under Sakura Kristal.

Makan Culture is next to Sushi King :)

When I first entered Makan Culture, I was greeted by friendly staffs and chic, modern woodsy decor. Framed posters on the wall and simple lighting give Makan Culture a bright and artistic feel.
The spacious seating area can accommodate couples, families or even small parties :)
Since I visited Makan Culture with my brother Hariz during the festive Chinese New Year season,
CNY-themed decorations were seen in the restaurant :)

I love the meme-esque framed poster :D

Simple and creative decor :)

Makan Culture is a self-service restaurant. The staff will give you a menu and when you have decide your choice, you can place your order at the counter, make your payment and the staff will serve your food when it's ready :)

Makan Culture is a Self-Service restaurant

Since this is a self-service restaurant, you must take your own cutlery and condiments from the special cutlery counter. For those who ordered the set menu, you will get free drinks and you can refill them from this counter.

So... What have we ordered?

Peranakan Seafood Curry with Nasi Bon Bon

If you ever visit Makan Culture, don't forget to try their specialty; Peranakan Seafood Curry with Nasi Bon Bon. This best-selling dish is also available on the Set Menu as well. Choose Set 2 from the menu and there you go! I enjoyed this dish because it was light and fulfilling at the same time.

Nasi Bon Bon

Nasi Bon Bon are balls of rice hence the name. Each ball of rice are different in terms of colour and taste but are similar in texture though. This is a clever dish for sampling different types of rice without worrying the carbohydrate intake. Hehehe *shout out to those on a rice-diet but loves rice*

Peranakan Seafood Curry

Peranakan Seafood Curry is a dish consists of seafood and vegetables cooked in a tangy Peranakan Curry broth. The vegetables and seafood are perfectly cooked and the broth is seasoned to perfection with a hint of tangy asam flavours and it is not too spicy. I enjoyed this dish by dipping the Nasi Bon Bon into the broth and devoured it in one bite. Yummy~!!! As for the rest of the curry, I finished it by eating straight from the clay pot... With a spoon of course. Muahahaha~!!!

Aglio Olio Chicken Pasta

Meanwhile, my brother has decided to order this pasta dish from the Set Menu. A combination of al-dente pasta and succulent chicken chunks tossed with herbs and olive oil. The dish was okay, perfectly seasoned and satisfying :)

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here at Makan Culture. The food and beverages are scrumptious, light and fulfilling. They are affordable and reasonably priced without any hidden charges. The restaurant ambiance is a chic intermarriage between modern and vintage and it is very calm and soothing. The staffs here are very friendly and helpful. Makan Culture is great for having a meal with your loved ones or just simply a place to relax after a successful shopping spree. You can even host small parties here at Makan Culture (with bookings of course). Right now, Makan Culture has two outlets and they are currently planning to expand their outlets throughout Malaysia in the future.

Thank you Makan Culture for the great experience :)
