[CLOSED] Salam Noodles - A hot bowl of noodle goodness that keeps the coldness of the rain away

UPDATE: Unfortunately, Salam Noodles at Wangsa Walk Mall has already been closed down 😭💔. However, there are still a few outlets that remain open at other locations.

Happy Saturday everyone~!!!
I'm sure that everyone is out and about today.
But due to the hot weather outside,
I prefer to stay indoors away from the heat.

I prefer staying in the shade. Hehehe.

For today's entry, I would like to talk about Salam Noodles. Salam Noodles is a Chinese-Muslim restaurant that specializes in Chinese-Muslim cuisine.

I first heard about this restaurant from one of my classmates so I have to give Salam Noodles a try. I found out that there was a Salam Noodles outlet that is close to my neighbourhood and I waited my chance to try it. I did try it one day with my brother, Hariz. Actually, it was an impromptu visit to Salam Noodles because  it was raining outside that time so we decided to try Salam Noodles while waiting for the rain to stop before continuing our errands. Besides, a bowl of piping hot noodles on a rainy day IS a good idea.

The restaurant is simple with modern woodsy decor with refreshing trademark colours of green and white. It is bright and pristine. The area is spacious with various seating areas; indoors (near the counter and near the kitchen) and outdoors.

Salam Noodles is a Self-Service restaurant. When you sit down, the waiter will give you the menu. After you have selected your meal, you must fill in the order form that is provided on the table. Don't worry, pencils are also provided by the restaurant. Next, proceed to the counter, give your order form and make your payment. The price range for Salam Noodles is between RM2.50 until RM10.00 and there are NO hidden charges so you can enjoy your meal without burning your wallet. Hehehe.
Please note that you need to take your own cutlery from the cutlery counter provided.
*ahem... it's self-service okay*

One of the BEST things about Salam Noodles is that the drinks are FREE and you can REFILL them AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT. After you have made your payment, you will be given cups for your drinks. The number of cups depend on the number of persons that dined at Salam Noodles. The drinks are at the drinks' counter and you will be spoilt by choices such as teas, soft drinks and even good ol' plain water. There's ice too for those who prefer their drinks cold. After you have taken your drinks, all you have to do next is just wait for your food to be served to you. :)

Now, let's look at the FOOD!

As it name suggests, the main specialty of Salam Noodles are their hand-made noodles that are hand-pulled just like the traditional way. You can choose whether to have your noodles in broth (braised meats or curry) or dry (braised meats or curry).
Please note that the portion sizes are big and very fulfilling so make sure that when you come to Salam Noodles, your stomachs are empty. Hehehe.
Not a fan of noodles? You can try their rice dishes too.
Their rice dishes also have options of braised meats or curry.
Another Salam Noodles' specialty that you should try is the Xin Jiang Roasted Meat Sticks that come in two options; Xin Jiang Roasted Mutton Sticks and Xin Jiang Roasted Chicken Sticks.
I would personally recommend the mutton version :)

So, what have we ordered?

Mushroom Mutton Soup Noodles

My brother ordered the Mushroom Mutton Soup Noodles. Bouncy noodles that are hand-pulled to perfection topped with slices of perfectly-cooked mutton and slices of mushrooms in a rich flavoursome broth and garnished with bok choy, chopped spring onions, chopped cilantro leaves and drizzled with chili oil.

Mutton Soup Noodles

I ordered the Mutton Soup Noodles. Basically it is similar like my brother's bowl of noodles minus the mushroom slices; bouncy noodles that are carefully hand-pulled to perfection topped with slices of perfectly-cooked mutton in a rich flavoursome broth and garnished with bok choy, chopped spring onions, chopped cilantro leaves and drizzled with chili oil. I preferred mine with a little extra kick so I put lots of vinegar in my bowl of noodles. The vinegar made it more scrumptious. Hehehe.
*Condiments were provided on each table; vinegar and chili oil.

Xin Jiang Roast Mutton Sticks

For the Xin Jiang Roasted Meat Sticks, you must order a minimum of three sticks. I ordered 10 sticks; 5 for me and 5 for my brother. Succulent mutton chunks that are marinaded in secret herbs and spices and roasted to perfection. The extra char gives it an extra smoky flavour. It was delicious but for me, I think it was a bit salty for my liking since I don't eat much salt. Nevertheless, we both enjoyed it.

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here at Salam Noodles. The food is delicious, affordable and reasonably priced. The portion size is VERY SATISFYING. I love the FREE drinks. The staff are okay and the service is good. I like the simplistic decor. Salam Noodles is a good place for having lunch or dinner with your friends and family with delicious food whose price is friendly on your budget. As for the outlets, Salam Noodles has various branches across the Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

Thank you Salam Noodles for the great experience :)
